Blog Photography Hacks by Rose ClearfieldBlog Photography Hacks by Rose Cleafield

The author of Blog Photography Hacks, Rose Clearfield, is a freelance photographer who aims to take the complexities and expense out of taking photos for your own blog. In this comprehensive book, you'll learn how to create magazine-worthy shoots with your current equipment.

In the opening paragraphs, Rose discusses the background and the equipment she uses, and we learn that she really has a keen passion for the subject.

I am particularly impressed with the first chapter, which features some quite brilliant ideas for low-cost or free items you can use as backdrops - these are ideas I've never thought of, but will certainly be using in the future.

Indeed, the book is particularly focused on backdrops and lighting, and you'll find a huge amount of advice, such as creating a low-cost reflector, and creating light by simply using daylight light bulbs.

Tips on making the move from auto mode to manual mode are also provided and will help to make you become a much better photographer in the process. There is also info on the difference between shooting in RAW and JPeg, and how shooting in RAW and self-editing could also improve your photos.

Although some advice is given for using a smartphone camera, I would like to have seen more on the subject, particularly as so many people are using them these days.

Rose ends her book with some useful links to online photo editors and helpful posts on her own blog.

What I really like about this book is that it takes a unique and thrifty approach to professional photography. She proves that you really don't need to spend a fortune, and you can save quite a hefty sum by simply using everyday items for props, backdrops and lighting.

The writing style is clear and jargon-free, and each section is clearly titled. However, only one font size is used for titles, and a larger font could be used for the chapter titles, making them quicker to find.

The fourth chapter was slightly disappointing in that it is aimed at an American audience. However, some of these stores can be found in the UK, too.

Mark's rating:

Pros

Unique lighting and backdrop tips.
Packed with Great ideas for anyone on a tight budget.
Easy to understand.
Low-cost guide.

Cons

Aimed at an American audience, but it's a minor issue.
More advice on using smartphone cameras would be useful.

Blogging Made Easy by Amen Sharma, Rumena Begum

Available in paperback and Kindle edition formats, Blogging Made Easy is aimed at both newbies and established bloggers, and will help you attract more visitors and increase online exposure.

It begins with a bio and case study of one of the authors, Rumena Begum, a fashion and beauty blogger based in London. There is also a case study of Katie Corio, an online fitness coach living in San Diego, although she's not listed as an author.

Okay, so there is an incredible amount of information to digest in Blogging Made Easy. However, the chapters are rather inconsistent in their depth of detail, with some areas covered comprehensively, and others just skimmed over.

There are a number of problems, too, with the freebie links no longer working, and there are a few grammatical errors, which is unacceptable from a team that are supposed to be pro bloggers. An update is needed to remove the Google + section and broken links.

This is certainly a book that newbie bloggers will find very usefu…

Affiliate Marketing Ultimate Guide 2019 - The $10,000 per Month Foolproof Method

If you wish to earn money from your blog, then you should seriously consider affiliate marketing. Affiliate Marketing Ultimate Guide 2019 by Ronald Roberts is a very comprehensive guide on the subject, and when I say comprehensive, I mean it!

Many chapters are huge and packed to the rafters with advice. Not all of the advice I agree with, as you will find out, but there is certainly a lot of excellent information here to digest.

The author goes into great detail about what affiliate marketing actually is, discussing the main players, how to sign-up, and which networks you can join. However, it would have been useful to have been given links to the networks from within the ebook.

Some of the affiliate networks mentioned I would not recommend. For instance, JVzoo's products are mostly terrible, making pie in the sky promises which will leave your customers very dissatisfied - as I did - which is not good for your reputation. Clickbank's products are mostly pretty similar, in th…

Unfortunately, starting a vlog these days isn't as simple as filming yourself on your phone and uploading it to Youtube. You could do this, of course, but if you want to gain a big following and earn some decent money from your channel, then a more professional approach will be required.
