If you've always fancied trying your hand at video blogging (vlogging) but you're not sure how to get started, then this publication could be just what you're looking for.

Unfortunately, starting a vlog these days isn't as simple as filming yourself on your phone and uploading it to Youtube. You could do this, of course, but if you want to gain a big following and earn some decent money from your channel, then a more professional approach will be required.

How to Vlog: The Complete Guide to Video Blogging and Become a Successful Vlogger on Youtube by Aaron Scott aims to set you on the right track.

If you are serious about vlogging then you will, most definitely, get a lot out of this book. It's clear to see that a lot of time and effort has gone into it, and the well-structured and thoughtful layout makes finding each chapter/section an easy process.

The book is packed with essential information from an author who really knows his subject. The enthusiastic writing style is easy to digest, and every aspect of the vlogging process is covered.

While there are no serious problems with the layout of the Kindle edition, I would like to have seen shorter paragraphs with more spacing between each one. But, as mentioned, it's not a major issue.

A little more info on video editing software and a few camera recommendations would have been nice, but overall, there is a wealth of solid information here that will certainly help you on your way to becoming a pro vlogger. It's one of those books you'll be coming back to again and again, for sure.

Chapters

The first chapter What is a Vlog? explains why just uploading videos isn't enough, how vlogging pays and asks "do you have what it takes?".

Choosing Your Kind of Vlog asks what content interests you and who will be your audience? It goes on to explore the different types of vlogs you could produce, which is very useful.

Deciding what to vlog can be very time consuming, and the third chapter aims to help you by exploring the main types of vlogs being produced, such as diary format, entertainment, how to/educational, global reach and infinite reach.

In Videography Equipment and Techniques you'll learn what items you'll need to create a pro vlog, with advice on subjects such as positioning your camera and whether your laptop's in-built microphone will suffice?

Getting Started With Video Blogging is a very comprehensive chapter with subjects including preparation, pick a topic and become an expert, what's in a name/brand? names to avoid, branding and online presence, your logo, animations, pre-production, scriptwriting and post-production.

Chapter 6 How To Build A Strong Following on Youtube discusses content, video sharing and uploading, being yourself, signing off your video and handling negativity. This is probably the most important chapter of the book and features some really solid advice.

Shooting Your Vlog covers where to shoot, how to be prepared (with a checklist of equipment to take with you), memorising and reciting your script, being on camera, revealing yourself, know your style, know your market, setting up Google Adsense, and the length of your videos.

In Video Editing, you are taught how to make the most of your video editing software. It's not a course on how to use a particular piece of software, but features very practical advice which can be applied to the process of video editing. A few recommendations for the best software to use would have been useful, though.

The tenth chapter reveals How to Create Engaging Videos. Here you'll learn about choosing your camera, lighting, setting-up your channel, building an audience, taking advantage of social media, annotating your content, using the right keywords, stealing traffic from other videos (perfectly legal!), ask questions or add a cliffhanger, and posting video responses.

Common Newbie Mistakes You Have to Avoid is self-explanatory, and 8 common mistakes are featured. This is quite revealing and great attention should be paid to this chapter.

You'll discover how to get both paid and free traffic to your vlog, and how to generate leads in How To Get Traffic To Your Blogs and Vlogs.

In Chapter 13, you'll discover many Tips and Tricks for Success in Video Blogging, as well as the myths of video blogging.

The penultimate chapter How To Monetize Your Youtube Videos discusses the various methods for monetizing your Youtube videos (obviously!), including Adsense, partnership, affiliate links and getting signed.

The final chapter is Marketing and covers linking to other social media and publishing new content consistently, and there is an overview of the major social media networks.

Blogging Made Easy by Amen Sharma, Rumena Begum

Available in paperback and Kindle edition formats, Blogging Made Easy is aimed at both newbies and established bloggers, and will help you attract more visitors and increase online exposure.

It begins with a bio and case study of one of the authors, Rumena Begum, a fashion and beauty blogger based in London. There is also a case study of Katie Corio, an online fitness coach living in San Diego, although she's not listed as an author.

Okay, so there is an incredible amount of information to digest in Blogging Made Easy. However, the chapters are rather inconsistent in their depth of detail, with some areas covered comprehensively, and others just skimmed over.

There are a number of problems, too, with the freebie links no longer working, and there are a few grammatical errors, which is unacceptable from a team that are supposed to be pro bloggers. An update is needed to remove the Google + section and broken links.

This is certainly a book that newbie bloggers will find very usefu…

Write Blog Posts Readers Love by Henri Junttila

Write Blog Posts Readers Love has been out for a while now and, as I write, it's a best-seller on Amazon. I am pretty excited to have finally got my hands on a copy for review.

Henri is the owner of Wakeupcloud.com, a blog that aims to help people discover how to do what they love, and he has, so far, penned five books.

In this book, the author starts out by telling us how he always wanted to write and how he became overwhelmed and confused when trying to find something that worked. What do I write? How do I create a successful blog? We've all been there!

He aims to reveal everything he has learned while building his own blog and gaining tens of thousands of followers.

This book certainly lives up to its title, and is very well-written in a clear and concise manner. Each chapter is very comprehensive and packed with very inspiring and useful information. I certainly learned lots of new techniques to improve my own writing, and If you're a writer or blogger then you really …
