How to Start a Blog - Free Step-by-Step Guide to Building a Blog

How to Start a Blog - Free Step-By-Step Guide

Firstly, you'll be pleased to know that this e-book is absolutely free on Amazon, so grab yourself a copy before the publisher changes their mind!

How to Start a Blog - Free Step-by-Step Guide to Building a Blog - for Those Interested in Making Money and Having Fun! is a pretty self-explanatory title, and has been written by a couple who own and run two successful blogs which, they claim, make $100,000 per month between them. They own an impressive health and fitness blog called Avocadu, so, hopefully, they know their subject matter inside out - let's find out!

The fact that the pair are offering this book for free is a good sign. I have read countless books on blogging from so-called "experts" who are actually only making money by selling their books to you, rather than from their blogs as they claim.

Now, the book is fairly comprehensive, although some chapters have a lot more depth than others. You will gain much inspiration from chapters three and four, which are written in a very positive manner to diminish your fears and encourage you to actually start a blog.

There are also plenty of links to some very useful free guides on the authors own Create and Go blog.

However, chapters 8 to 12 are focused on the Wordpress platform, and you are encouraged to sign up with Bluehost for hosting and obtain a paid for theme. The authors are receiving a commission from the affiliate links included in these chapters. Now, there is nothing wrong whatsoever with including affiliate links (I have affiliate links to Amazon on this blog), but this section of the book is biased towards using Wordpress, and reads rather like a promotional ad.

Wordpress is an excellent platform - I have used it myself - which is powerful and popular amongst bloggers. However, you will need to pay for upfront hosting, and it is more costly and time-consuming to set-up and understand for a beginner than a free platform such as Blogger.

It would have been nice to have had more information about other blogging platforms, and the authors took a very negative view of the free platforms in an otherwise positive book.

If you want to take the plunge and use Wordpress, then this book will prove very useful to you as it has plenty of advice. Just be wary of rushing in and wasting your cash on a blog that you may regret starting - as I did several years ago!

I recommend testing the water with your blog on a free platform such as Blogger, because if your blog fails, or you decide you want to change your domain name or the niche you are writing about, you can do this easily with Blogger without losing any money. You can start as many free blogs as you desire, and it is actually relatively easy to move a Blogger blog over to Wordpress should you wish to do so at a later date.

The guide is positively written in a clear and warm style you can easily relate to, without using complex jargon. The authors come across as likeable and knowledgeable and include short stories of how and why they created their own blogs.

Despite the bias towards the Wordpress platform, there is still plenty of useful, positive and inspirational advice here. And, of course, it's totally free!

7. Best Blogging Platforms 101 - where you should start. This is my least favourite chapter as it reads like a promotional ad for Wordpress with an affiliated link to Bluehost, which allows the author to earn a commission. The authors are very wrong with their information about the Blogger platform, stating that you cannot make money from ads. I am making a good income using blogger, and you can easily add adsense ads and affiliate links.

Blogging Made Easy by Amen Sharma, Rumena Begum

Available in paperback and Kindle edition formats, Blogging Made Easy is aimed at both newbies and established bloggers, and will help you attract more visitors and increase online exposure.

It begins with a bio and case study of one of the authors, Rumena Begum, a fashion and beauty blogger based in London. There is also a case study of Katie Corio, an online fitness coach living in San Diego, although she's not listed as an author.

Okay, so there is an incredible amount of information to digest in Blogging Made Easy. However, the chapters are rather inconsistent in their depth of detail, with some areas covered comprehensively, and others just skimmed over.

There are a number of problems, too, with the freebie links no longer working, and there are a few grammatical errors, which is unacceptable from a team that are supposed to be pro bloggers. An update is needed to remove the Google + section and broken links.

This is certainly a book that newbie bloggers will find very usefu…

Affiliate Marketing Ultimate Guide 2019 - The $10,000 per Month Foolproof Method

If you wish to earn money from your blog, then you should seriously consider affiliate marketing. Affiliate Marketing Ultimate Guide 2019 by Ronald Roberts is a very comprehensive guide on the subject, and when I say comprehensive, I mean it!

Many chapters are huge and packed to the rafters with advice. Not all of the advice I agree with, as you will find out, but there is certainly a lot of excellent information here to digest.

The author goes into great detail about what affiliate marketing actually is, discussing the main players, how to sign-up, and which networks you can join. However, it would have been useful to have been given links to the networks from within the ebook.

Some of the affiliate networks mentioned I would not recommend. For instance, JVzoo's products are mostly terrible, making pie in the sky promises which will leave your customers very dissatisfied - as I did - which is not good for your reputation. Clickbank's products are mostly pretty similar, in th…
