How to Blog for Profit Without Selling Your Soul by Ruth Soukup

The title of this blog How to Blog for Profit: Without Selling Your Soul sums up nicely what blogging to make money should be about. I have read countless articles from so-called "entrepreneurs" who suggest blogging only about products and fads that will make you rich, which is the exact opposite of what you should be doing.

By the way, the author Ruth Soukup (who owns a very successful blog at assumes that you have basic knowledge of setting-up and running a blog, so you won't find in-depth advice here on setting one up. Its main aim is to help you grow your blog and earn a living doing what you love.

Right from the very first chapter, it's clear that Ruth is a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic blogger, and her own blog attracts over 1 million visitors per month. A lot of thought has gone into creating this very comprehensive guide, which is packed to the rafters with essential advice.

Now, the author is American, so if your British (l…

How to Start a Blog and Earn - ebook by Atharavraj and Rajnish Yadav

As I've discovered during the creation of this blog, there are countless books about blogging available online, and, sadly, a great many of them fail to impress. For this post, I'm going to review a brand new publication How to Start a Blog and Earn. Is this one worth spending your time and hard-earned money on? Let's find out...

Firstly, it was a little difficult picking out where the chapters actually start and end, and it would have been helpful if the authors had defined each chapter with a larger font for the title and actually listed them as Chapter 1, Chapter 2 etc.

Thankfully, the use of English is pretty clear and straightforward, although using the word "coz" in one chapter is unforgivable. The layout of the guide is a little awkward, though, and the authors need to tidy up the sections and give them a bit more order.

Sadly, the first 7 chapters/sections are pretty sparse and feel rushed, and you will find very little info that will be of much use for…

Getting Started As An Amazon Affiliate by Mathlew Burkett

Okay, so this isn't a book about blogging, obviously. However, if you would like to earn a commission from promoting products on your blog (without carrying any stock), then this new guide should be of great interest to you.

Getting Started as an Amazon Affiliate by Matthew Burkett is a low-cost Kindle e-book that is aimed at anyone who has little knowledge of the Amazon Associates program, and needs advice on what it is, how to add it to your blog, and how to generate sales and earn money.

Although this guide is relatively short at 18 pages, there is a lot of essential advice crammed into those pages. The writing style is clear and concise, and is also jargon-free. It's also a pleasant change to read a guide in which the author does not waste time by harping on about how he has gone from rags to riches and is making £1000's per month.

Right from the first chapter, you are provided with relevant information that will be of use to you. Some chapters are a little brief. For …

How to Start a Blog - Free Step-by-Step Guide to Building a Blog

Firstly, you'll be pleased to know that this e-book is absolutely free on Amazon, so grab yourself a copy before the publisher changes their mind!

How to Start a Blog - Free Step-by-Step Guide to Building a Blog - for Those Interested in Making Money and Having Fun! is a pretty self-explanatory title, and has been written by a couple who own and run two successful blogs which, they claim, make $100,000 per month between them. They own an impressive health and fitness blog called Avocadu, so, hopefully, they know their subject matter inside out - let's find out!

The fact that the pair are offering this book for free is a good sign. I have read countless books on blogging from so-called "experts" who are actually only making money by selling their books to you, rather than from their blogs as they claim.

Now, the book is fairly comprehensive, although some chapters have a lot more depth than others. You will gain much inspiration from chapters three and four, which are…

Affiliate Marketing 2019 for Beginners by Aman Jain

Affiliate marketing is an excellent way to create a good income from your blog. If you have no idea what it is and want to know how to get started, then this guide could be for you.

Affiliate Marketing 2019 for Beginners - How to Get Rich by Selling Other People's Products by Aman Jain is aimed at anyone who needs to understand what affiliate marketing is and how to set it up.

Unfortunately, there are two glaring errors on the front cover, and it soon becomes clear that the author's first language is not English. Indeed, right from the very first paragraph, there are big grammatical errors, and the confused English makes it feel like it was written by Yoda from Star Wars!

Now, although the book is a little difficult to read, some of the advice given is actually okay, although strictly aimed at the beginner. If you can get your head around the strange use of the English language, then you'll find some useful information here.

However, at just 24 pages in length, it's no…

Blogging: Get to $10,000 Per Month in 90s Days by Dale Strong

I'm always rather dubious about books which promise huge earnings in their title. Using a big figure in the title, no doubt, helps to shift copies, but will this book live up its title?

At 56 pages long, Blogging: Get to $10,000 Per Month in 90 Days, Make Money Blogging, Affiliate Marketing Secrets and More! isn't the most comprehensive guide I've seen about blogging. However, the information is pretty solid and it has been thoughtfully written in a concise manner.

Update: Now only available as an audiobook.

If you put into practice everything that you are taught in this book, then there is a good chance you'll start to earn some money from your blog. However, I feel it is rather over-optimistic to suggest that you will earn $10,000 per month in 90 days, and it is very rare that any business will earn that amount in such a short space of time. Indeed, the majority of bloggers do not earn this amount even after many years.

The main method given for making money is affil…

How to Vlog - The Complete Guide to Video Blogging by Aaron Scott

If you've always fancied trying your hand at video blogging (vlogging) but you're not sure how to get started, then this publication could be just what you're looking for.

Unfortunately, starting a vlog these days isn't as simple as filming yourself on your phone and uploading it to Youtube. You could do this, of course, but if you want to gain a big following and earn some decent money from your channel, then a more professional approach will be required.

How to Vlog: The Complete Guide to Video Blogging and Become a Successful Vlogger on Youtube by Aaron Scott aims to set you on the right track.

If you are serious about vlogging then you will, most definitely, get a lot out of this book. It's clear to see that a lot of time and effort has gone into it, and the well-structured and thoughtful layout makes finding each chapter/section an easy process.

The book is packed with essential information from an author who really knows his subject. The enthusiastic writing …

Blogging Made Easy by Amen Sharma, Rumena Begum

Available in paperback and Kindle edition formats, Blogging Made Easy is aimed at both newbies and established bloggers, and will help you attract more visitors and increase online exposure.

It begins with a bio and case study of one of the authors, Rumena Begum, a fashion and beauty blogger based in London. There is also a case study of Katie Corio, an online fitness coach living in San Diego, although she's not listed as an author.

Okay, so there is an incredible amount of information to digest in Blogging Made Easy. However, the chapters are rather inconsistent in their depth of detail, with some areas covered comprehensively, and others just skimmed over.

There are a number of problems, too, with the freebie links no longer working, and there are a few grammatical errors, which is unacceptable from a team that are supposed to be pro bloggers. An update is needed to remove the Google + section and broken links.

This is certainly a book that newbie bloggers will find very usefu…

Free Traffic Online: 5 Free Ways To Get Traffic To Your Blog by Red Mikhail

The number one reason why most people abandon their blogs is because they can't get enough readers to view their posts.

Free Traffic Online: 5 Free Ways To Get Visitors/Traffic To Your Blog in 27 Days or Less aims to solve this problem. Although the book was published in 2015, the ideas are still relevant, although I have to say some of them will require immense effort.

Overall, I'm left a little disappointed by this book. The information provided for the final two ideas is pretty sparse, and two of the ideas involve writing books. This is a long-winded approach that will require a lot of effort, and it isn't guaranteed to work. Not many of us will have the time to write blog posts and write a book!

The SEO section isn't really an idea, and is something anyone with a blog or website should be mastering anyway.

Nonetheless, some of the ideas are original ones, at least, and the book is worth the very low asking price. If the author could add extra info to the final two …

How to Start a Blog and Make Money by Kim Komando

There are now around 30 million blogs online, which means that starting a blog has become more popular than it has ever been. It's a great time to start a blog, but the task can be pretty daunting.

This is where How to Start a Blog and Make Money could help you. Penned by the best-selling author and USA Today columnist Kim Komando (that's a great name, don't you think?), the ebook certainly has an appealing and straightforward title. But will it live up to expectations?

I find Kim Kommando's writing style to be perfect for this publication, in that it isn't flowery or rambling, and is mostly to the point without feeling too cold. The ebook has been thoughtfully and clearly laid out with a good use of headings and sub-headings. It's also grammatically excellent.

The book is ideal for the blogging novice who needs advice on every aspect of starting a blog. However, I would like to have seen more information in the Blogging for money chapter, with more advice on …

How to Make Money on Youtube with a Small Audience by Zyphyr Sword

The aim of How to Make Money with a Small Audience by Zyphyr Sword is pretty self-explanatory. Its aim is to help you construct a small Youtube channel and adapt if for making money, without a substantial number of subscribers.

It's a great shame that a book with such an eye-catching title (that promises so much!) fails to deliver in every aspect. While there's nothing wrong with the author's writing style (which is clear and to the point and grammatically almost perfect), there is simply not enough worthwhile information here to digest, and it feels like a magazine article rather than a book.

The bottom line is that you will find it very difficult to earn much money with a small audience, and you would be better spending your time learning how to build a big audience, than reading this pile of poop.

Mark's rating:

Clearly writtenCons
Very sparseFails to live up to its promising titleYou won't make money with a small audience

Write Blog Posts Readers Love by Henri Junttila

Write Blog Posts Readers Love has been out for a while now and, as I write, it's a best-seller on Amazon. I am pretty excited to have finally got my hands on a copy for review.

Henri is the owner of, a blog that aims to help people discover how to do what they love, and he has, so far, penned five books.

In this book, the author starts out by telling us how he always wanted to write and how he became overwhelmed and confused when trying to find something that worked. What do I write? How do I create a successful blog? We've all been there!

He aims to reveal everything he has learned while building his own blog and gaining tens of thousands of followers.

This book certainly lives up to its title, and is very well-written in a clear and concise manner. Each chapter is very comprehensive and packed with very inspiring and useful information. I certainly learned lots of new techniques to improve my own writing, and If you're a writer or blogger then you really …

Make Money with Blogging - 11 Sources of Income by John Godson

Let's face it, anyone can start a blog. But actually making it successful and earning money from it is not quite so easy, which is why so many people abandon their blogs without ever earning a penny.

Make Money with Blogging - 11 Sources of Income does what it says on the tin by giving you 11 ways to earn money with your blog.

The author starts by telling us how he earned $333.96 in one day. However, he then explains it was pure luck and a one-off, which is disappointing to say the least!

Indeed, the whole book is rather disappointing in more ways than one, and it is littered with annoying text formatting errors. For instance, in the opening chapter there is oversized text for some reason. And throughout the book, there are also huge gaps between some paragraphs and no gaps between others.

Then there is the lack of any useful reading material. For sure, the author gives us 11 ideas to make money with your blog, which are;

  1. Affiliate Marketing
  2. Google Ads
  3. Give C…
